An octagonal English brass single-handed pre-balance spring Renaissance pendant watch with alarm, circa 1590. An octagonal fire gilt-brass full plate movement with applied floral decorations, gut and fusee, two barrels, an iron rim foliot without balance spring, one hammer. Fire-gilded brass dial with radial Roman hours, central engraved strawberry blossom, finely cut blued iron hand and an alarm hand on a rotating disc. On the stepped case the remains of fire gilding, the centre of the back cover pierced and florally decorated, nine-piece hinge, rear bell.
