A high-quality Swiss 18 carat gold open faced minute repeating lever pocket watch with split-seconds chronograph and 60-minute counter, circa 1900. Retailed by J.E. Caldwell & Co, Philadelphia, U.S.A. Bridge movement, lever escapement, two hammers, two gongs, Patent 24118, Pat Feb. 5, 67, gold screw compensation balance. White enamel dial with black Arabic hours, red Arabic five-minute numerals, 60-minute counter at 12 o’clock and subsidiary seconds at 6. Plain case. Dial signed, case numbered, movement signed and numbered, cuvette signed by the watchmaker as well as the retailer, case and movement with matching numbers. Comes with the original mahogany presentation box.
