A rare Swiss silver open faced quarter repeating verge oignon pocket watch, circa 1710. Full plate movement, one hammer, chain and fusee, the balance bridge with a polychrome enamel portrait of a distinguished lady and a three arm steel ring balance. White enamel dial with Roman hours, an outer minute track and Arabic five minute numerals. The pierced and engraved case with a bottom bell, decorated with acanthus tendrils, birds of prey, a shell and oval cartouches with engraved city views. Movement signed.

Andreas Enderlin was born in 1681 and died in 1733. He came from an important family of watchmakers in Basel, Switzerland, who were involved in manufacturing large and small clocks. Descendants worked primarily in Strasbourg. Some watches from the Enderlin family are in the historical museum in Basel.
