According to information, the present chronometer was recently integrated into a standing wooden case, in a genre that was different from the original genre. To ensure safe winding, the bezel was rotated by 90 degrees. However, the swinging of the balance wheel in the vertical position was unsatisfactory for a chronometer. Now the timepiece is back in its original form as a table chronometer and with the bezel set back by 90 degrees.

John Antes, active around 1787, was recorded as an apprentice to William Addis. The corresponding pocket chronometer bears the year mark of 1797 and is in the Clockmakers’ Museum in London.
