A 1A quality historically interesting gold full hunter cased watch in original box, made by A. Lange & Söhne in Glashütte, Sachsen Germany, circa 1894. This especially large and heavy version of the Siegfried Popper full hunter cased watch was crafted from 18 Carat gold, has a water drop shape, a front lid with the coat of arms with crown and anchor and inscription “Vorwaerts”, the symbol of the Austrian Lloyd and the monogram SP on the back lid. The cuvette has a dedication: “Dem k.u.k. Oberingenieur Siegfried Popper in dankbarer Anerkennung der Verwaltungsrat der österreichischen Lloyd”. The unique A. Lange & Söhne special enamel dial has a monogram SP for Siegfried Popper, Roman hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at six o’clock and blued steel hands. The movement has a precision lever escapement in best quality 1A, a gold lever, a gold escape wheel, screwed gold chatons and a fine adjusting device. Case and movement have matching numbers and dial, case, movement and box are signed.
