A German yellow and rose gold pair cased half quarter repeating repoussé verge pocket watch, circa 1740. Multi coloured gold repoussé outer case, scene with two ladies in a palace, five part lateral hinge, fine sound openings, pierced inner case, two playing bears between rocailles. Early Friedberg verge movement with grotesque cock, half quarter repeating. White enamel dial with Roman hours and Arabic numerals, fine steel poker and beetle hands.

This watch was made in Friedberg. In order to achieve a higher selling price Johann Georg Wagner added the place name London to his signature, which is also known from 24 other Friedberg watchmakers. Johann Georg Wagner was born in Mühlhausen in 1714. He married in 1746 in Friedberg and died there in 1791.
