An exquisite and unique Austrian silver and rose gold hunting cased pocket chronometer, circa 1893. Glazed movement, gold pendant and crown, decorated steel bar movement with oscillating, helical hairspring, pivoted detent escapement, compensation balance with gold screws, screwed gold chatons, bridge engraved No. 1. Cuvette inscribed Specialität in Remontoirs Chronometer No. 1 gebaut von Carl Sonderwald Linz a/D. 1893. White enamel dial Arabic hours and outer minute divisions, subsidiary seconds, blued steel hands. Engraved case, the front with a hunting scene, monogram AS on the back, case number according to the year of construction 1893.

This piece is a masterpiece by Carl Sonderwald, who was born in 1868 in Neulengbach near Vienna. Since 1887 he worked in Linz, where he died in 1947.
