Rare silver oval puritan verge watch with a protective case

A silver English verge pocket watch with fire gilt full plate movement,  pierced and engraved balance cock, flat steel balance, gut line fusee, round baluster pillars, ratchet and click set-up, silver dial, black Roman numerals, blued steel floriate hour hand, plain silver case with a shuttered winding aperture to rear, rock crystal lunette secured by a screwed brass rim, plain black leather outer protective case. Wound through the back.

A member of the Blacksmiths’ Company, together with his former master, Robert Grinkin, Edmund Bull was one of the 1622 Petitioners for a Clockmakers’ Company, but for some reason did not become a member when the Company was founded in 1631.
