A superb English 18 carat gold and enamel triple cased verge watch made for the Turkish market, circa 1813.
Gilt full plate verge movement signed Markwick Markham Borrell London, chain and fusee, pierced and engraved balance cock, silver regulator disc with Turkish numerals, diamond endstone.
White enamel dial, Turkish numerals, gold beetle and poker hands. Gold and enamel inner case with red and white on the bezel, blue on the band and green with floral decoration and polychrome enamel scene of a harbour to the back, case maker’s AN, central case also with polychrome enamel scene of a harbour, green enamel band with floral decoration, and outer case rose enamel with floral decoration and glazed to the back, dial and movement signed, case hallmarked London 1813. 18 Carat gold chatelaine and original key included.
