The beautiful Saxon city of Chemnitz had a watch and jewellery shop owned by Karl Remmert at Königstrasse 25 as well as the watch and clock shop Remmert near the market square. It is very likely that a connection existed to Hans Remmert. Hans Remmert was born on April 9th, 1909, in Chemnitz and was trained at the German watch and clock-making school in 1932 and 1933. Two other pieces he created while attending the school are known. A pocket watch and a lever escapement demonstration model.

Alfred Helwig was born on July 5th, 1886, in Goldbach, Lower Lusatia and died on May 18th, 1974. He was a German watchmaker and technical writer who invented the flying tourbillon.
