A very rare American railway watch, the Howard Montgomery Quality Extra, with 14K gold watch chain made by the E. Howard Watch Co. in Boston, U.S.A., circa 1912. The numbered, plain open faced case of this watch is crafted from 14 carat gold. The white enamel dial features Arabic hour numerals, an outer dot minute track with outermost Arabic minute numerals from 1 to 60, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and blued steel spade hands. The screwed and numbered Quality Extra movement has a precision lever escapement, 19 jewels, the inscription patented 1908 and is adjusted for temperature and five positions.
The dial is signed Howard, the case and movement are signed E. Howard Watch Co. Boston.
