A fine and rare French gilt metal open faced verge pocket watch with alarm, circa 1750. Montre a Reveil. Matte gilt full plate movement, pentagonal baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three armed brass balance, flat balance spring, pierced and engraved continental balance cock with polished steel endplate, silver regulation dial, alarm train with engraved fixed barrel, steel train, sounding on a bell in the back of the case. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer minute track and large Arabic five minute numerals, apertures for the winding of the going and alarm trains and for setting the alarm hand with female arbor, original gilt metal Louis XV hour and minute hands, steel alarm hand. Louis XV case, bezel chased with scrolls, the back with polished centre, shell and scroll border, pierced sound holes. Dial and movement signed.
