A fine Russian 56-hour marine chronometer with power reserve indication and ratchet key, circa 1964. Gilt brass full plate movement with baluster pillars secured by screws, 20 jewels, fusée with chain and Harrison’s maintaining power, Earnshaw’s spring detent escapement, free-sprung two-arm bimetallic compensation balance with cylindrical weights and two meantime adjusting nuts, polished steel helical balance spring, diamond endstone. Silvered dial with upright Arabic numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary dials for the seconds and power reserve indication, original gold spade hands. Mahogany box with brass handles, the glazed middle section with hinged lid. Brass bowl and gimbaled suspension. Dial, case and movement signed. Accompanied by the original carrying case.
