Eight-day going lever chronometer
–
A very fine and very rare Russian eight-day going chronometer with double barrels and constant-force lever escapement made in a limited edition of 50 pieces, circa 1960. Gilt movement, Ø 70 mm, Geneva Striping decoration, cylindrical pillars with polished steel screws, twin going barrels with tandem winding, jewelled constant-force straight-line lever escapement, the escape wheel pivot with pinion geared to a further wheel with 10-second remontoire impulsing the escapement for constant force through a four-arm pirouette, monometallic balance with meantime and temperature adjustment screws, free-sprung Breguet balance spring. Matte silver dial with black Arabic hours, outer minute divisions, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock, power reserve indication at 12 and blued steel alpha hands. An aluminium case, a shuttered winding aperture and a screw-down milled-edge bezel. The two-tier mahogany box with a glazed viewing port. Dial and movement signed. Accompanied by the fitted mahogany deck box and key.
