A fine Swiss 18 carat gold, enamel and pearl-set hunting cased carillon grande sonnerie trip minute repeating keyless lever pocket watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1900. Matte gilt movement, a double train with differential winding, 27 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring with overcoil, an index regulator, striking the quarters on three gongs with three hammers, centrifugal governor between the dial and dial plate, Silence/Chime selection lever on the bezel border, the repeating activated by a trip push-piece in the band. A hinged gold cuvette with engravings. White enamel dial with Roman hours, an outer minute track with Arabic five-minute numerals, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and gold Louis XV hands. The front of the case with a polychrome enamel portrait of a lady on a translucent red enamel ground, on the back a hunting scene depicting a hunter on a horse and a tiger, the band is decorated with red enamel inlay, the front and rear bezels are set with pearls. Dial and cuvette signed, movement numbered.
