Large repeater pocket watch with repoussé case
–
An unusually large percussion pocket watch with repoussé case and figure automaton Jacquemart, made by Caspar Kaufmann in Vienna, Austria, circa 1815. The open faced case of this watch is crafted from gold plated silver and is an extremely decorative housing with an engraved and repoussé scene depicting Adam and Eve on the back. The front with a figured Jacquemart automaton and translucent blue enamel over engine turned decoration has an engine turned dial in the center with Roman hour numerals and only the hour hand, the minute hand missing. The movement has a verge escapement with repetition of the hours and quarter hours.
The movement is signed.
