A rare Austrian quarter repeating verge pocket watch, circa 1790.
Silver case with rear bell, pusher for repetition via pendant, large lateral hinge and a florally engraved back side with rotating silver arbor cover disc with two coloured flower petals and chased silver bloom. Enamel dial with radial Roman hours and filigree hands and the centre with a polychrome enamelled riverside village scene. Full plate movement, keywind, firegilt, signed, with applied floral decorations, chain/fusee, ornamented movement pillars, two hammers, three-arm brass balance and a fine florally engraved and pierced balance bridge.

Matthias Krumphu (e) ber was born around 1765 in Vorchdorf or Kremsmünster, Upper Austria. He was a member of the Krumphu (e) über watchmaking family. He worked as a watchmaker until around 1830. A collection of some Krumphu (e) ber are in the Heimatmuseum Schloss Hochhaus in Vorchdorf.
