A large Austrian gilded silver Memento Mori pocket watch in the shape of a skull by Elisabeth Petronin in Vienna, circa 1820. Signed fire gilded full plate verge movement with a pierced and engraved cock and silver regulator disc. The hinged skull form case with a typical Vienna bow shows white enamel spots, which are probably part of the original decoration. The face with a central polychrome enamel scene depicting a winged flying Reaper and a white enamel chapter ring with Roman hour numerals, alternating half hour markers, outer minute divisions and the original hour hand, the minute hand is missing.
