Open faced silver cylinder watch in later case by George Graham

A later cased English silver key wind open faced pocket watch, 18th Century, the later case hallmarked for London 1863. Gilt full plate cylinder movement, pierced and engraved balance cock, square baluster pillars, diamond end stone, silver regulation. Later white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, black outer minute track and blued steel spade hands. Later polished silver case, vacant cartouche to back, dust cap. Movement and cap signed, case stamped ‘WH’. Comes with key and folder of related research including correspondence with the British Museum.

The correspondence from the British Museum states that according to the number this is probably one of the last movements that Graham made, probably circa 1751. The British Museum have Graham watches numbered 6460 and 6461 in their collection meaning that the movement of the current watch was probably made not too long afterwards.
