Gilded brass and silver verge watch
–
An early oval pendant watch made in England, circa 1615. The case of this watch was crafted from gilded brass, it has a front lid that is florally engraved on the inside, a very fine silver band engraved with petals and rabbit motifs and a winding hole on the back. The original, richly engraved dial has Roman hour numerals, a central city view showing a lake with a swan and in the foreground a meadow with a rabbit motif too, it further has an, probably original, iron hand. The movement is missing.
