A rare and early probably English gilt metal and rock crystal oval pre balance spring single hand pendant watch, circa 1640. Oval shaped gilt brass full plate verge movement engraved with a flower, gut fusée, steel two armed pre hairspring balance wheel, finely pierced and engraved elongated floral decorated balance cock and foot, secured by a pin with matching click for the ratchet and wheel regulation. Gilt brass dial plate with finely engraved figures of Adam and Eve and Cupid, centred by an engraved scene depicting a small village scene, applied silver chapter ring with Roman numerals and single steel hand. Oval case with gilt metal mounted rock crystal covers and sides, flower shaped pendant.
