A fine and unusual English 18 carat gold open faced eight day duplex Royal presentation watch, circa 1842. Gilt finished movement, duplex escapement, finely engraved foliage decorated balance cock. Gold cuvette engraved with the Royal crown and Queen Victoria’s monogram and initials G.G.G. Finely engraved foliage decorated gold dial, Roman numerals on engine turned chapter ring, blued steel moon style hands, outer minute divisions and engine turned subsidiary seconds. Case with ribbed band, engine turned back centred by the engraved Royal crest depicting the head of a stag above a three pronged crown. Case and cuvette numbered and stamped with casemaker’s mark ‘LC’ and London date letter for 1842, movement signed.
