Jacques Alfred Jürgensen
Jacques Alfred Jürgensen, born in 1842, was the youngest son of Jules Jürgensen. He worked in his father’s company as a teenager and, at a young age, made some remarkable pieces himself, such as a split-second watch for his uncle Alfred Lavalette, when he was only eighteen years old. He was one of the best, if not the best, employee in his father’s company. Because of his talent and with the help of his father, in 1865, at the age of 23, he established his own company, which he ran for 31 years until 1896. The father’s company was run from 1866 by the elder son, Jules Frederick, who took over the business completely in 1872.
–
Jacques Alfred’s watches were made in his father’s exact tradition. Furthermore, he used the same workers as his father. Many of the watches were made for his father with Jules Jürgensen’s name on the dial. If not for the signature, it would be impossible to distinguish Jacques Alfred’s watches from his father’s. He used JJ bow setting, as in this watch, the Saturn rings on the bow, and the same type of movements.
