Gold open faced pocket watch with stoppable centre seconds
–
A Danish gold pocket watch with a rare hand setting mechanism and stoppable centre seconds, circa 1857. Manufactured for the sum of 678,74 francs, with a copy of the Jürgensen records
18k gold case. Signed white enamel dial, Roman-, Arabic numerals, stoppable centre seconds. Bridge movement by Piguet Frères, two barrels, gold screw compensation balance.
As it is often the case with Jürgensen’s timepieces, the delicate movement is made of gold; the hand-setting mechanism, however, is different to Jürgensen’s patented design: here, a lateral slide causes the cogs for the hand-setting to engage when the watch is wound.
