A technically interesting early gold cylinder watch, with Hallmarks, made by George Lindsay watchmaker to the Prince of Wales, in Edinburgh, Scotland, circa 1759. The double open faced plain case is made of 18 Carat gold with identical hallmarks from 1759 and a master’s mark PM, The original white enamel dial has an outer ring with black Arabic numerals for the minutes, an inner ring with black Roman numerals for the hours and original iron hands. The movement has an early English cylinder escapement and is beautifully engraved.
The dust cover and movement are signed and numbered.
