An English gold and enamel triple-cased verge watch, made for the Ottoman market, circa 1789.
This exquisite timepiece boasts a full plate movement, frosted and gilt finish, two hammers, two barrels, and a verge escapement. The steel balance is finely engraved with floral motifs and features a diamond endstone on the balance. Crafted with the utmost attention to detail, the outer case is made of 18-carat gold and is glazed, à goutte, and polychrome enamelled. The middle case is also made of 18-carat gold and features polychrome enamelling, while the backside showcases a stunning translucent polychrome enamelled painted scene. The inner case is also crafted from 18-carat gold and features a polychrome enamelled painted floral background. The white enamel dial features radial Ottoman numerals and blued steel hands, adding to the overall elegance of this timepiece.
