An English 18 carat gold pair cased quarter repeating verge pocket watch in beautifully engraved and pierced cases, circa 1715.
Full plate movement, fire-gilt, applied florally engraved ornaments, signed, chain/fusee, three-arm steel balance, very finely engraved pierced balance cock, large chatoned diamond endstone on balance. Two gold cases: an outer case – à goutte, pierced, the backside decorated with birds, shells and human heads, blanco cartouche, and large lateral hinge; and an inner case – pierced, engraved, cartouche with engraved flower, around the edge openwork decoration with engraved scrolls. Enamel dial with Roman radial hours, outer minutes track with Arabic five minutes numerals, and blued beetle & poker hands.
