Gold tourbillon lever with 24h power reserve by Dent

A very fine and heavy English 18 carat gold lever precision watch with one minute tourbillon and 24 hour power reserve indicator, circa 1906. Frosted gilt 3/4 plate movement, chatoned, chain/fusee, polished three armed steel tourbillon cage of Nielsen type 1 with polished screws, lever escapement with a counterpoised gold weight, Guillaume gold screwed compensation balance, freesprung blued balance spring. Gold cuvette. Cream coloured enamel dial with Roman hours, auxiliary seconds, 24h power reserve indicator and blued spade hands. Plain case, turnable pendant, casemaker’s punch mark RN for Robert North. Dial and movement signed and numbered. Accompanied by copy of the Kew A Certificate No. 13674 and original velvet lined mahogany transport case with inlaid monogrammed brass shield with engraved coronet.

Dent produced only six tourbillons in total. This piece was tested at the Kew observatory between July 16 and August 31, 1909 and reached the astonishing result of 92.3 points, the highest mark achieved by a Dent watch at the Kew Observatory (1884-1912).
