An important and very heavy English hunting cased minute repeating pocket watch with special movement quality by royal watchmaker J.W. Benson in London, circa 1893. The 18 carat gold smooth case is hallmarked London 1893 and bears case maker’s punch FT for Frederick Thomas. Signed white enamel dial with Roman hours, an outer minute track, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and blued steel hands. An exquisite precision lever movement with free sprung, diamond endstone, screwed gold chatons and special lever, the decorated main plate inscribed By special Warranty to H.M. The Queen and H.R.H. The Prince of Wales, repeating the hours, quarter hours and minutes.
