Silver pocket watch with a very unusual designed outer case
–
A large silver pocket watch with an unusual “sun shape” outer case, made for the Ottoman market by Edward Prior in London, Great Britain, circa 1813. The unusually “sun shape” designed silver outer case has a hinged cover on the back, the central symbol is the slide for closing and a smooth inner case with Hallmarks London 1813. The “sun case” served as a transport case with a secret clasp and slide and was probably specially made for the watch case. The enamel dial has gold plated hands and the numbered spindle movement has typical Ottoman pillars.
Dial and movement are signed.
