Silver pair cased pocket watch Massey Type I

An English Massey I lever in silver pair cases, hallmarked Chester circa 1823. Full plate gilt keywind fusee movement with dust cover. Harrison’s maintaining power. Plain cock with garnet endstone, a thistle simply engraved on the table, and ‘Patent’ on the foot. Blue steel Bosley regulator, plain three-arm steel balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Massey type one lever escapement. Lateral steel stop lever. White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel seconds hand with gold arbor and gold hands. Matching silver pair cases, silver oval pendant and bow. Maker’s mark ‘V.R.’ in an oval.
