Half hunter cased pocket watch with floral engraving
–
An octagonal neck watch in the Renaissance style, made by Kover in London, England, circa 1720-1760. This half hunter cased pocket watch, constructed from a combination of brass and copper, is adorned with silver plating and intricate floral engravings on its front. One of the notable features of this timepiece is the small window, likely crafted from rock crystal, which provides a glimpse into the inner workings of the watch. The back of the watch has a relief with a holy image. The hinged front opens to reveal an elevator, allowing for easy access to the internal components. The silver dial is adorned with a single hand and the movement of this timepiece is equipped with a spindle escapement, a popular choice during the 18th century.
