An English silver pair cased verge pocket watch, hallmarked London 1842.
Full plate fusee movement, round pillars, polished steel regulator on the top plate below the plain three-arm steel balance, engraved: F. Dobson / DRIFFIELD 1176. Enamel dial, the centre with an enamel scene of the crucifixion of Jesus, radial text JONATHAN LOVEL (instead of numerals), outer minutes track, gilt hands, and signed: PREPARE TO MEET THY GOD, and REMEMBER THY CREATOR IN THE DAYS OF THY YOUTH. Silver plain inner case and outer case. Both cases hallmarked Birmingham, 1842.
