An early English double cased spindle watch with 1/8 hour striking mechanism, circa 1742.
Superbly crafted double case with sound openings, fantastic English quality, master’s mark TH (Thomas Hardy), London hallmarks 1742, an inner case with elaborate floral decorations, grimaces, mythical creatures, bird motifs, angel motifs and city views, and bell. Enamel dial with Roman radial hours, outer minutes track, and golden hands. Signed and numbered verge movement of very fine quality, original dust cover.
