A technically interesting English deck watch with stoppable center seconds and independent date, circa 1787.
Silver pair case with matching hallmarks from 1787, watchpaper and lateral lever – on peripheral case – for stopping the center seconds. Fire-gilt verge movement with very rare construction of the date indication, directly driven by the fusee and not powered by the motion train. Original enamel dial (craquelling) with 1/5 second indication of center seconds, the time indication in the upper part, the date indication below and pink gold hands. Movement signed and numbered.
