A French 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch with enamel decoration, circa 1838-1847. It has a mechanical movement with key winding and a cylinder escapement. The white enamel dial features black Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track with red Arabic numerals at five minute intervals, and spade hands. The case and case back are richly decorated with chased scrolls and cartouches enhanced with black enamel. In the centre is an unlettered cartouche for a monogram. The case bears the French horse’s head gold hallmark. The watch comes with a gilt metal key and watch chain.
