A fine Swiss silver and gold quarter repeating pocket watch, circa 1900. Made for the Chinese market, retailed by L. Vrard & Co., Tientsin. Decorated covers with a hunting scene to one side and hunting supplies to the other, decorated band, the inside front with dedication in Chinese, hinged cuvette. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and five-minute Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds and gilt Louis XV hands. A gilt movement, the centre jewel with chatons, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, blued steel Breguet overcoil hairspring, index regulator, repeating on gongs. Cuvette signed.
