A rare and exquisite gold enamel pendant form watch in the shape of a tulip, studded with half pearls The French Tulip, circa 1830-1840. Gold and enamel case with half pearls. Enamel dial with Roman numerals and Breguet hands. Full plate, gilded brass movement with fusee and chain, verge escapement, monometallic balance (gilded brass), blued steel flat hairspring and a pierced and engraved gilded continental cock. The hinged enamel petals have been painted true to life; the lower part of the flower is decorated with translucent red enamel on the engine turned ground, with green Champlevé leaves growing from a stalk. A ring, of half pearls, runs around the flower’s middle section, with four lugs attached to short gold chains suspended from a single ring.
