A fine French 18K gold Montre de Souscription, pocket watch with ruby cylinder escapement by Breguet Paris, circa 1814.  Sold to the Marquis de Langle on November 28, 1814  for 840 Francs. Empire by Amy Gros (mastermark), engine turned with polished bezels. White enamel dial, Breguet numerals and outer minute track, secret signature below 12. Blued steel Breguet Souscription hand. Frosted gilt movement, souscription caliber, central barrel wound from the front or back, overhanging ruby cylinder escapement, three arm brass balance, the top pivot with pare-chute, blued steel flat balance spring, temperature compensation curb fitted to the index regulator. Dial and movement signed and numbered, case numbered. Barrel bridge engraved.
