An early French 18 carat gold Louis XV centre seconds chronograph pocket watch, circa 1762. The Louis XV open faced case is of very fine quality, with a florally engraved relief. The Louis XV white enamel dial has an inner ring of Roman numerals for the hours, an outer ring with Arabic numerals for the minutes, and it features gold hands. The balance can be stopped at will by means of a small slide on the border of the dial. Hinged gilt brass full plate movement with conical pillars, fusee with chain, cylinder escapement, plain brass three arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end piece. The dia and movement are signed.
