Jean Gaspard Duval, or Du Val, was probably born around 1600 and worked as a watchmaker, probably in France; he is listed without a location. In Geneva, there was also a Jean Gaspard (Gaspard Jean) Duval, who was born on April 18, 1637, in Gex, France. But he was a citizen of Geneva and was married three times. His eldest daughter, Marthe Duval (1668-1740), married the watchmaker Frédéric Soret. The son from his third marriage, Samuel Duval, became a watchmaker.
