Gold and silver cylinder watch by Brequet

A very fine and rare French, silver and gold, montre de souscription pocket watch with ruby cylinder escapement, circa 1802. Accompanied by a Breguet certificate. Sold to monsieur Malzoff, a Russian officer. An engine-turned band, gold bezels and bow, the engine-turned back cover with a central polished gold disc.

Silver dial, polished chapter ring with Breguet numerals, outer five-minute, quarter and half-hour divisions, engine-turned centre, secured by a screw. Blued steel souscription hand. A frosted gilt movement, souscription calibre, central barrel winding from the front or back, overhanging ruby cylinder escapement, three-arm gold balance, pare-chute on the top pivot, flat blued steel balance spring, bimetallic temperature compensation curb on the index regulator. Movement signed.
