Silver unusual cylinder pocket watch

A fine and unusual French silver open faced pocket watch with special dial indicating Catholic hours of prayer made by Ratel in Paris, circa 1880. The matte gilt bar caliber movement with eight jewels, a cylinder escapement, three arm balance, flat balance spring and an index regulator. White enamel dial with Roman hour numerals, a gilt sun, and cross and crown of thorns in the center radiating out into 12 divisions, each sector with prayer dedications relating to the crucifixion, blued steel hammer and nail, and spear hands. The case with a bezel cast in a repeated pattern, flat band with a Latin inscription, a hinged back cast and chased with Jesus on the cross within a border to match the bezel. A further hinged silver cuvette. Dial and cuvette signed, movement numbered.
