Gilt quarter repeating coach clock with moon phase

A German brass fire gilt quarter repeating Baroque coach clock of museum quality with alarm, moon phase and moon age, circa 1710.
Full plate movement, barrel, chain and fusee for going train, two florally engraved barrels for quarter-hour and hour strike with independently working racks, one barrel for alarm train, four hammers, verge escapement, silver regulator disc, three-arm steel balance, control dial for quarter-hour repeater.
Gilt champlevé dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, central turnable alarm disc, an aperture for moon phase.
Pierced and engraved case, the back engraved with a view of Friedberg Castle, the sides completely open-worked and ornamented with foliage scrolls, heraldic birds and atlas in the form of a putto, rear bell.

Kaspar Sacherer (also Sackherer, Sackerer, Schakerer, Sacra) was born in Friedberg on May 24, 1672, and died on June 14, 1723. His famous contemporary Johann Rehle (1684-1726) of Friedberg is known to have made an almost identical watch which was part of the exhibition “Friedberger Uhren” in the local museum in Friedberg in 1993.
