A very fine graduate’s piece with 24 hour dial made at the German watchmaking school Glashütte, circa 1926.
This watch received an award from the German watchmaking school that was donated by the A.H. association S.V. Saxonia, Glashütte, with extract from the archives and certificate, signed by Otto Lange, Alfred Helwig and others.
Silver tiered engine turned case, signed: “K. Richter Glashütte/Sachsen“, with gold crown, pusher, hinge and shackle and glazed movement. Signed frosted gilt dial with Arabic numerals, auxiliary seconds and blued spade hands. 3/4 plate movement, frosted, gilt, signed, with screwed gold chatons, gold screw compensation balance, fine engraved balance cock, index spring fine adjusting device and gold lever and escape wheel.

This student’s watch received an award from the German watchmaking school and is remarkable because of several distinguishing details: – elaborately finished silver case – lavish and intricate engine turned pattern on the back – Glashütte style very finely grained and gilded dial surface – exceptional 24 hour dial – extremely precise Glashütte movement of the highest quality.
Ewald Schröter, born December 11, 1904 in Verden, attended the German watchmaking school in Glashütte from May 1 1926 until June 30, 1927. His graduation pieces are: No. 3406: movement diameter 43 mm, silver case without spring cover; Glashütte watch with lever escapement and 24 hour dial, 1st grade No. 3489: movement diameter 55 mm; a table clock with spring detent escapement, helical spring, twin barrel drive without astatic needles.
