Silver pendant watch by Johan Bock
–
German silver oval single-handed pendant watch, circa 1620. This timepiece boasts a gilt oval full plate movement with a classic verge escapement, complemented by an intricately engraved silver dial. The silver case is adorned with delicate decorative borders and a finely engraved case band, making it a true work of art. Crafted by the skilled hands of Johan Bock, a renowned German watchmaker who was active in 1633, this masterpiece bears his signature on the movement. It is marked with a crowned V in a shield within a shaped reserve, indicating its Dutch import mark for large silver and gold between 1859 and 1909. Additionally, the Paris restricted warranty mark for silver dating back to 1838 is stamped with a boar’s head on the inside back of the case.
