Gold hunting cased lever pocket watch

A very fine and historically important German, minute repeating, 18K gold, hunting cased, keyless pocket watch, circa 1938. Sold on December 12, 1938, to Adolf Lunser, Berlin, for the Third Reich, and presented to Dr Morell on July 22, 1944. Accompanied by the original box, spare mainspring, guarantee, certificate, Extract from the Archives and full provenance.

A solid, polished case, the interior of the front cover with an engraved dedication Zum 22.7.44 mit den herzlichsten Wünschen and facsimile signature. Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial, three-piece, Breguet numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds. Gold Spade hands. A first quality (1A) frosted gilt movement, 29 jewels, the going train with screwed gold chatons, straight-line lever escapement with gold escape wheel and pallet fork, Lange cut bimetallic compensation balance with peripheral gold adjustment screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring, diamond endstone, swan-neck micrometre regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Dial, case and movement signed.
