An interesting, early English pair cased verge pocket watch with silver movement decoration, circa 1740.
1st case repoussé, floral, high-grade, centered blank monogram cartouche; watchpaper, formerly fire-gilt, gilding inside still very well preserved, outside mainly rubbed off, 2nd case same. Splendid verge movement with very rare silver movement decoration, grotesque face, blued regulating disc, worm gear, signed and numbered. White enamel dial in very beautiful condition, very fine, Roman hours, Arabic minutes, original hands.

Thomas Page was a weaponsmith and watchmaker. He worked self-employed from 1736 to 1777 and then together with his son-in-law until his death in 1784. The number 159 is a very early watch from around 1740.
