A Swiss brass and glassball form watch with animated erotic dial by Georges Ducommen, Le Locle, circa 1920. A glazed case back with a modern, custom-made made painted, animated dial, the scene showing Adam and Eve in Paradise, Adam offers the Apple to Eve under the watchful eye of the Serpent, but Eve reaches out not for the forbidden fruit but for his erect sex, which is mounted on the lever axis; … in the end, what will she choose? A coloured, painted polychrome enamel dial with Arabic numerals and brass hands. The movement has a lever escapement. Signature on the movement.

Very often, clocks in the shape of glass balls are in fact assemblies made at an undetermined time, with old watch movements. These clocks come in various sizes. The concave shape of the two glasses used, which are in fact very thick, has the main quality of visually enlarging the movement and the dial.

The journey of DOXA started with Georges Ducommun in the small town of Le Locle in the Jura mountains, Switzerland. George was one of 13 children and only 12 years old when he began his apprenticeship with an established watchmaker in 1880. He had a temperament for hard work and discipline, combined with a passion for mechanical precision and beauty.
