This watch is an extremely rare timepiece made by Patek Philippe. It is fitted with an 8-day movement and a large, sturdy case as required for board ships. The Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva owns a watch from the same series with no. 35150. According to the catalogue (Patek Philippe Museum, Patek Philippe Watches – Vol. I, p. 66), only 24 timepieces of this kind were ever produced; most of them were decorated with engraved coats of arms and were purchased by the same customer in Budapest. Only three of these watches – the one we have here, the one in the Patek Philippe Museum and another one are not engraved.
